Trying Human is about a young woman, Rose Marie Williams, who by day works as a secretary and filing clerk for a New York City police station and by night suffers from nosebleeds and boughts of sleepwalking. She doesn't remember where she's been or whom she speaks with during the missing time. After consulting a therapist, she learns a terrible secret that is consuming the world one person at a time. Rose confronts her fears and learns to embrace a reality that she was not prepared for. • What's your update schedule? I update every Monday with four or five pages. • I found a typo/ coding error/ other problem in the comic or on the website. I write the script and reread it a billion times until I think the dialog sounds natural enough. Then I use a cheapo sketchbook and a pen to rough out all the pages. From there I scan the rough pages and go over them, digitally inking and coloring in Photoshop. • I want to write a comic. What do I do? Well first you need a timeline or some kind of a basic layout of your plot. Long ago I started a comic without one and shortly after wrote myself into an enormous plot hole. Some comic authors think it's pro to do a comic on the fly but honestly, it'll always come out better with a plan. • So why aliens? I'm not sure... I've always been really interested in the topic of alien abduction and UFOs. I do believe it's a very real phenomenon even if it's just psychological. Make of it what you will. • Have you ever seen or read X-Files/Close Encounters of the Third Kind/Visitors of the Night/etc.? Yes but nothing has been as inspirational for this story as the works of real witnesses and abductees. My name is Emy Bitner and I live with my fiancé and kitty in Pennsylvania, USA.
